Project Planning and Control
A system of integrated project control is used on all major UPS projects for planning and monitoring project - related activities, such as costs, resources, quantities and schedules.
Project Planning
Systematic project planning requires an understanding of all the activities included in a project and their interrelationship, together with constant updating as the project progresses. UPS employs a hierarchy of project plans from summary level project plans to detail level working schedules. Progress is reported regularly to the project manager and special reports are prepared for critical activities. The representation of progress in monthly reports is by means of Scurves and bar charts. Progress is measured and reported to the Engineering, Drawing, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning Departments.
Project Cost Control
UPS utilizes a standard code of accounts for cost engineering. This can be used through all phases of the project to produce effective and uniform cost reports. The cost engineering team prepares a detailed project budget and adjusts it to the original estimates. Each month an adjustment report is submitted to the client showing changes between the forecast figure and the budget.
